Medical Insurance
Dr Alwan is recognised as a specialist provider by the following private medical insurers:
- Allianz
- Aviva
- AXA (including AXA International)
- BUPA (including BUPA Global)

- WPA
He is fee assured for each of the above insurers and so any billing will be in keeping with their agreed charges.
If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation to check the terms of your policy, particularly the type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees. Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.
Most insurers will require a referral from a GP or another specialist although it is worth confirming this with your insurer beforehand. They will then provide a pre-authorisation number which we will require in order to book your appointment.
Self Paying Patients
Dr Alwan is happy to see patients who do not have medical insurance. The fee for an initial consultation is £350 (30 minutes) and the fee for a follow up appointment is £250 (20 minutes). These can be undertaken via video conference or telephone if preferred.
Following your consultation, you may need investigations such as blood tests, genetic testing, vascular studies, or imaging such as a CT or MRI scan. If tests are undertaken by the clinic or hospital, they will determine the fees and charge you separately. This is also the case for any prescriptions or therapies such as infusions. Dr Alwan or his PA will be happy to inform you of any fees charged in relation to tests or treatments your are advised to have.
Financial Interests
We are legally obliged to tell you if Dr Alwan has any financial interests at Fortius Clinic, HCA Healthcare, Imperial Private Healthcare or any equipment at any of the sites where he sees patients. We can confirm he does not have any such interests.
